The only way I survived was by watching the other "younger" drivers (they are maniacs). Also watch the very old locals, as they are really awful - they will drive at top speed across a field so they can get in front of you and then crawl really slowly all over the place.

Majorca Overview

The largest of Spain’s Balearic Islands, Mallorca is a diverse place visited by people from all around the globe. As a destination for those in search of sandy beaches to relax on, there can be few places better than Mallorca with its wonderful climate. But there is much more to Mallorca than meets the eye with hidden away quiet coves and in Palma, a fantastic gothic style city full of interesting sites and stylish restaurants, shops and cafes.

Majorca Essentials

Palma Cathedral - Situated in the old quarter of Palma, the cathedral is a masterpiece. Built over 400 years from 1230 the cathedral has an impressive gothic style to it.

La Llojta - Found opposite the waterfront, La Llojta is a classic gothic building which is home to an interesting museum.

Covel del Drac - Two thousands meters of caves and six subterranean lakes make up the Caves of the Dragon. Possibly the best sight is the classical musicians playing music from boats on the center of an underground lake.

Cartuja de Valldemossa - This former monastery was made famous by Frederic Chopin who spent his winter of discontent here with lover George Sand. The rest of the town of Valldemossa is extremely attractive and worth a look.

Deja - This picturesque town is famous in Mallorca because it has been home to many artists, writers and musicians over the years. Still with many working artists it is a great place to buy a piece of the islands culture and also has some appealing attractions.

Majorca Calendar - Pick of the Year's Events

Angel Sunday (Easter) - The first Sunday after Easter is celebrated with traditional food, processions and blessings in the capital Palma.


Carro Triunfal (July) - A party in Valldemossa in commemoration of the patron saint of the island, Santa Catalina Tom’s.
