American Beautiful Car

American Beautiful Car

These makes were of a very high category, which were the symbols of vanished production beauty from other times and which all became 1929 crisis victims, leaving behind several wonderful works in automobile history both in the field of quality, production luxury and technological innovation.

The Stutz did so well in the Indianapolis 500 race that this small company decided to produce the Bearcat model purely for racing. The make focused on races and developed other interesting models but was dissolved in 1934. The Duesenberg competed with the best European models thanks to beautiful J car, which was as powerful as a racing car, but also reliable and comfortable, as were most luxury cars of that time. Duesenberg cars quickly became popular among the VIPs of these times, but they also vanished during the nineteen-thirties. Then, there was James Packard, angry because of the failure of a new car so he established his own brand in 1899. Until its disappearance in 1956, the make produced approximately 1.5 million cars, all of which were luxury ones.

The Duesenberg brothers incorporated the make bearing their name in 1912. They first produced ships engine and in 1918, switched to cars after moving to Indianapolis – what an omen! Despite the excellent image of the make and its racing successes, the Duesenberg make was devoured by Cord in 1926, exactly three years after launching the famous J model.

Erret Lobban Cord, who managed the fate of Auburn and Duesenberg, decided to develop his own make in 1929. The fruit of his labors was the Cord L29, launched in 1929. The car had a front wheel drive, which was unprecedented at those times.

In 1935 Auburn weakened but the high point was the noteworthy and beautiful Speedster model. Its above-standard performance was confirmed by a series of records that the car achieved.

The beautiful Speedster was created in 1928 from an association between Cord and Auburn. The Speedster became especially valuable in 1935 due to a contribution by the master designer Gordon Behring and the eight-cylinder engine with 150HP.
