Cult Cars

Cult Cars

A car is and always was a carrier of dream and freedom. Some cars demonstrate this idea not only by their business results but also by the impact they have on society.

Excellent examples are two totally differing models of Volkswagen, which generated a new demand and new automobile habits. The first one is the type two mono-space car that linked to the Beetle just at the moment. It is the available in different versions, from a pure utility vehicle up to the camper van that can be seen on the roads with large families or groups of surfers on board. Each of its users loves the definite image of freedom on its own way. The second car is the Golf, or more precisely put, the GTI. With its strong engine and pleasant presentation, it brings a sports spirit and foresees the next fashion.

The Land Rover, base on the Jeep, is of a totally different style. The rural English AWD quickly increased its customer base and became very successful as the most sold model of the Rover line, setting the trend for off road cars. The other was represented by the Citroen DS, which appeared in 1955 as an automobile UFO and stumped the competitors, immediately leaving them behind. The Hydraulic suspension and the brakes or the aerodynamic shape – all this was boldly offered by DS, frequently called the car of the century. Let’s also look at the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud, the privilege of the high society. This wheeled palace is the personification of comfort and abundance. However, there was a class struggle going on in the sixties, so the Silver Cloud directly came from the world of the automobile aristocracy into a charming anachronism.

The Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud is an unbelievable ship on wheels; with a length of 530 cm (17 feet) and it weights more than two tons. Production of this monster takes four moths. As tradition says, the power of its eight-cylinder V-engine has never been published.
