Ford Dream and Legend

Ford Dream and Legend

Henry Ford incorporated the Ford Motor Company in 1908. This fruitful inventor and creator launched its masterpiece, the Ford model T, which set the very first standard in automobile history.

This four-seat coupe put America on wheels, particularly due to its unrivalled robustness and maneuverability for which the model T became transportation means that adapted excellently to the poor quality roads.

Henry Ford established a new organization of work, the so-called Fordism, inspired by Taylorism. The assembly-line production was born and due to optimalization of production, the time required for the assembly of one vehicle shortened from twelve hours to just over one hour! The business success of this car, produced from 1908 to 1927, was phenomenal, as demonstrated by the 16,492,040 produced. After the difficult nineteen-forties, the Detroit producer was successfully revived thanks to the Thunderbird and Mustang models. This model, designed by Lee Lacocca, was introduced in 1964 and was included among compact sports cars with a form approaching European standards. The success was amazing, especially thanks to a never-ending list of options. From a normal citizen up to the most admired celebrity, everybody wanted and could buy a Mustang, the symbol of an America undergoing an economic boom.

It was only with the GT40 model, that Henry Ford II fulfilled his dream to win the 24 hours Le Mans and beat Ferrari, who declined a merger with the American giant. After three unsuccessful attempts, success finally came in 1966. The bet was won equally with the prize being to sell a part of the 124 produced GT40 models in a road version.
