Porsche Successful Formulas

Porsche Successful Formulas

Although Porsche was established in Stuttgart in 1938, they started production of their own models ten years later specializing in the sports coupe. Ferdinand Porsche attended the school of Mercedes, then designed the Volkswagen Beetle car and became successful as a producer in 1949. But the author of the very first model 356 of the make was his son, Ferry. The engine and the chassis are taken from the Beetle.

The car was called “356” because it was the 356th project of the company’s design studio. Although it was necessary to produce these cars on the Beetle grounds, the genes were undoubtedly sporty. The Americans, on the other side of the Atlantic, discovered these trueborn European cars, which rapidly dominated the winning posts of sports cars category racing. One, a fellow named James Dean, quickly feel in love with the 356 convertible but died behind the steering wheel of the 550 Spyder sports version.

Equally, as with all significant cars, it was not easy to replace the 356 model but Butzy Porsche, the son of Ferry, came with the 911 model, a new masterpiece that quickly launched a boom in business for Porsche. The core of this 2+2 coupe with its very sporty appearance was the air-cooled Porsche six-cylinder. The company, which the public assumed would live forever in the monoculture of the 911, had recently successfully diversified when the Boxster, the Carrera GT, (a super car) and the Cayenne, which hit the luxury 4x4 car segment, were launched.

The Porsche 959 was developed for racing but finally, it received approval as a normal car. For all that, the car did not forget its origins, as demonstrated by first place in the Paris – Dakar Rally in 1986. The Porsche 959 model achieved amazing performances, it was a concentration of all the best technological innovations of that time with an all-wheel drive, computer-controlled wheels, and variable ground clearance, tire pressure sensor and ABS. The 959 model was longer, lower, had a better aerodynamic shape than the 911, and reached the Cx coefficient 0.31!

The German producer, flushed with success, broke into all world-racing circuits and terrains such as Le Mans and Paris – Dakar. Porsche is the brand of a respected designer studio cooperating with many makes and an independent and very profitable industrial concern.
