Car Co UK
In 1952, the engineer Colin Chapman founded Lotus. Several years later, the famous Lotus Seven was introduced, now available as the Caterham, a type of bike on four wheels on a tube chassis providing excellent rigidity, lightness and driving stability.
In 1962 when Lotus began to dominate Formula 1 with its driver Jim Clark, the Elan model was introduced and this began the start of the industrial phase of the UK Co Car Producer. A special feature of the Elan, inspired by its predecessor, the Elite, was its steel backbone type of frame providing rigidity and lightness. After the death of genius Chapman, who was the father of many technical revolutionary innovations, the company began to decline, was then sold to GM purchased by the Italian industrialist Artioli, and finally sold to the Malaysia-based Proton.
Jaguar has a rich history as well, of which the first car was the SS100 by William Lyons. However, the producer created the first sensation in 1948 with the XK120 model. The war had ended three years previously and the public, attuned to the square shapes of the pre-war era, was astonished by the beauty of the shapes featured in this innovative car. It was equally as beautiful and fast and became a great success. William Lyons repeated the gimmick with his E-type in 1961, which was equally fascinating.
