Car UK

Car UK

UK sports cars underwent a real boom after World War II particularly on the US market. At that time, many small and large UK car producers built their reputation.

The Aston-Martin cars produced just after the war are beautiful cars but the Newport-Pagnell-based company gained its reputation with the DB4. This model with an Italian body has preciously elegant lines. The engine compartment holds a six-cylinder engine originally from producer’s sports range. The DB GT was built on the DB4 and the earlier model was used as the base for the DB4 GT Zagato, undoubtedly the most sought after Aston-Martin car. Only nineteen of the Zagato have a very special shape and an engine with optimized powers. The DB4 followed the DB5, which will remain forever as the Aston-Martin of James Bond, until replaced by the DB6.

The British-Leyland concern, fascinated by the Healey car shapes, joined the English factory and together they produced the Austin-Healey, which was replaced in 1959 by the model 3000, containing a six-cylinder engine and 2,912 cm3. The MG also attracted the crowds with firstly their A model followed by the B as well as their attractive shapes and simple but reliable mechanism, which then became very popular among car collectors.

The tradition of sports roadsters, so beloved of Britons, also created Triumph with its famous convertible series. The history started in 1953 with the TR2 and quickly accelerated with the success of the TR3 and TR4, in the seventies, the brand slowly dropped off and finally ceased in 1981.
